The Hanged Man hangs by one foot from a tree. He is not in pain. He is upside down by choice. From there he can see the world the way nobody else in the room can. The card is the moment you stop trying to fix something and just look at it.
Upright
Upright, the Hanged Man is voluntary surrender. You stop pushing. The thing you have been wrestling with shifts of its own accord, because you finally let it. The card is the proof that not every solution is a more.
Reversed
Reversed, the Hanged Man is stalling dressed up as waiting. The pause that is no longer wise, only afraid. The card asks whether you are surrendering or hiding.
When it shows up
The Hanged Man arrives in plateaus. The work is not to push out of them. It is to learn what the plateau is teaching you.
